Highest stainless steel quality

All of Anchor Base’s parts are usually made of Type 1.4301 (304) stainless steel. The material is also known as A2 or 18/10 chromium-nickel steel. This is by far the most commonly used grade of stainless steel. It does not rust under normal conditions because its special composition creates an invisible passive layer.

If this passive layer can not form at all, for example because welding traces have not been removed or if the passive layer is disturbed by an unsuitable construction or by aggressive environmental influences, then stainless steel will rust as well.

To avoid rust under the influence of  the high-saline content of seaside air and the chlorine-laden atmosphere around swimming pools a more corrosion-resistant alloy is needed.

We use both the material 1.4404 because of its particularly low carbon content and the material 1.4571 with the additional alloying element titanium. Both materials have A4-quality (316).
